Eight luxury sea view apartments

Successful developers Design Construction Investment ltd approached EP Architects after failing to achieve planning approval on this fantastic water front site with an architectural designer.  The site lies within a ‘Conservation Area’, which placed a strong emphasis on the designers of the scheme to complement and improve the character of the town centre.  Previous designs had included ‘Victorian’ inspired designs which had not been well received by the local authority’s conservation officer.

EP Architects were given an open brief for the site to achieve eight units and a planning approval.  Drawing on the maritime heritage of the area, the building was designed to represent two sails through the strong angular form of the projecting roofs above the bow shaped balconies at each level. The original concept was well received by DCI Ltd and ultimately developed and submitted to Swale Borough Council for Pre-Application advice, where it received officer level support.  Some minor changes were made following the advice received and following a number of meetings with the council EPA were pleased to secured approval for the site.
