Family oriented open plan living
The client approached EP Architects with a brief to create an open-plan living space and simplify the ground floor layout. The scope of the project was reduced in order to focus on the quality of execution and material finishes.
The utility room was previously located in an outbuilding and the existing layout was disjointed. The scheme combines a modern design with the existing structure. EP Architects designed a new extension to bring the utility room into the house and provide a new ground floor wet-room.
The existing extension had a failing roof, which has been replaced with a new flat roof to mirror the modern extension. Large roof lanterns now fill the open-plan interior space with natural light.
